Caydin this month...

...loves his cars, trains, and airplanes.

...loves toy animals. 

...loves to say "Come on Mommy, play"

...counts all the time but never has the numbers in the right order.

...will pat my head if I pretend cry.

...throws mega tantrums and likes to tell us to "go away" before slamming the nearest door. 

...turns on and off the lights... makes for hours of fun.

...loves to tell us to "WAKE UP" in a high, loud, squeeky voice (thank god he is still in his crib).

...hates having his diaper off. (Usually the start of mega-tantrums).

...is very polite and always tells you when you've done a "good job"

...doesn't like to change clothes (and doesn't like potty training)

...is afraid of lit up pumpkins, his silly music teacher all dressed up, and his pirate halloween costume.

...if waking up in the middle of the night, he will call "Mommy" now instead of just screaming.

...insists that mommy give him a bath, feed him, play with him, read to him (you get the point).  He loves his daddy but only when Mommy is at work!

...found his I STINK garage truck book and has read it a thousand and two times since he found it 2 days ago.  Grandma asked that I lose it again, but Caydin always wants to sleep with it too!

...loves the color yellow.  Last night, he dumped out my hat box and said "no" to each one until he came to the yellow one, then he started cheering and staying "hooray!"

...has an electric Thomas toothbrush now that has made teeth time much more pleasant!

...understands what Time Out is and never wants to go there! HA!

...is super into his bean sensory tub.  He loves to use mixing spoons and pans to move the beans around!  I found an idea to use black beans and spiders for Halloween so I think I might switch out the tub this weekend :)

Hoop Jumping

Carter and Caydin had so much fun jumping through the hola hoops last week in Kindermusik!  Ava liked it so much that she was ready to join in!

Pumpkin Lesson

Warning: I follow way too many toddler blogs :)

I found this idea online and thought I'd try it out with Caydin.  He has mastered all of his chucky puzzles and loves doing them so this activity was right down his lane! I used old scrapbook paper and a file folder to make the game.  Caydin liked trying to match up the pumpkins with their right color.  It was a pretty hard activity for Caydin (I guess the colors were too similiar) but he liked doing the game with me helping. 

After he played the matching game twice, he thought it would be funny to mow the game over using his lawn mower!  Great game addition Caydin, great game!

Fall Pumpkin Art

Caydin has been getting more and more into artsy stuff lately... coloring, painting, drawing with markers, etc.

So when I saw a pumpkin yard decoration that needed paint, I thought it would be a good fall, fun thing (for Caydin) to do.  And it was a lot cheaper than buying the same thing already painted. 

 Caydin did great for about 3 minutes.

 Then he figured out that he could paint the newspaper and liked that A LOT more!

He didn't even mind getting his fingers painted (wait, I take that back - he didn't like it so much).  He's getting better about touching and trying new things!

Wordless Wednesday - Strawberries

Week 1 - Strawberries!

Our trip to the zoo

We haven't been to the zoo in a couple months because of the hot hot hot weather! We were excited that it finally cooled down enough to enjoy the morning at the zoo.  All the animals enjoyed the cool weather too.... since they were all out and being active.  We were pretty excited to see all kinds of animals out of their cages with the zoo keepers.  Caydin was able to see and pet a TON of animals. 

Caydin enjoyed being out and walking around.  We brought our stroller but Caydin was only in it for about 10 seconds.  He did a great job of staying with us and not running off.  We enjoyed seeing Mod the elephant and watching her show us all her tricks. 

 Caydin wasn't into petting snakes but he loved petting the turtles.  One of the turtles was pretty BIG too!

 After visiting the animals that you get to feed, we headed for the "choo-choo".  I joked to Rob that it was the fastest train ride I've ever been on.... I'm guessing the train driver wasn't so into the whole "driving the train around the parking lot" thing. HA! Caydin loved it though!

Zebu at the Zoo

Caydin caught up with the zebu while they were on their Sunday morning stroll around the zoo.  He jumped right in and wasn't afraid to pet them!  Afterall, it's not often you see a couple zebu's on leashes walking around the zoo.... AND you get to pet them! It was pretty sweet!  More zoo pictures tomorrow!

Perfect Weather for an evening at the Park

 (no wonder the other kids at the park didn't want to play with him... look at that hair!!!!)

 milestone reached: caydin DIDN'T throw the biggest tantrum ever when we took him out of the swings... instead we pulled him out of the swing and he ran off to the playset.  WOW!

 liking the "love you" on the side of the playset. thank you teenagers. you're the best.

Caydin was pretty tired after we got home, he didn't even put up a fight at bedtime! I call that a successful day :)
