Little Monster

While we were at the beach, everyone started to notice that Caydin was picking up and putting in his mouth ALL of his puffs. In fact, at times he didn't want anyone to put them in his mouth - he wanted to do it himself. So tonight with dinner, I made up a bag of mixed vegetables and put some on Caydin's highchair tray. Being the worried mom that I am, I took away the green beans (they seemed so big to me) and the corn (they seemed hard to chew) and just gave Caydin the peas and carrots.
I mixed puffs in there too.
Well, Caydin went right for the puffs and skipped the peas and carrots. He would touch them but would not pick them up so I started to sneak them into his mouth whenever he'd put a puff in!

He liked the peas more than the carrots, which surprised me because he doesn't like the baby food peas.

Look at that almost empty tray!
Mommy got brave at the end and even put a green bean on Caydin's tray.. HE PICKED IT UP!
Little guy surprises me everyday.

Now for another big SURPRISE!!!!
Anyone who has been to my house knows that I have been too cheap to go buy a baby gate. Instead, I use a big PINK suitcase. Caydin loves the zippers on the suitcase and loves to toss things over onto the kitchen floor tile. It was also the perfect height for him to watch Rob or I do whatever in the kitchen. It has been working at great... until today...
So, just to set up the story, Caydin was in his play room while I was hanging up some clothes in my closet. The gate, I mean suitcase, was up to keep him in the one room.
I'm hanging and hanging and listening to Caydin make noises and hanging some more and then... the little monster walks into my closet. I say to him, "HOW DID YOU GET IN HERE???"
Of course, he didn't answer so I had to go investigate. I found the suitcase knocked over on its side...

So I put Caydin back in his playroom, put the suitcase back up the right way, and watched...
And this is what the little monster did...

The little booger knocked the suitcase over....

...and climbed over!

He used the wall to help stand up! {I was freaking out!!!!}

Then he looked at me and smiled.
No way was I going to let him continue this little monster stunt so I put the camera down and pulled him off of the suitcase.
{So much for hanging up laundry =) }

Jay and Jen's Wedding (Day 6 - I think)

On Sunday, my oldest brother Jay married his girlfriend Jen. They have a quick wedding ceremony on St. Pete beach. It was very hot out, so Caydin wasn't having anything to do with the heat or the sun. I had to keep him in the back in the shade but that didn't work so well so Rob eventually took him inside the hotel. I'm glad they finally got married (its been a million years since they started dating) and now the odds of Caydin having a cousin to play with before he turns 20 is higher!!! ***So Jay, I know you read this, get to work on the whole cousin thing!!! And, I hope you are having a great time in Hawaii!
All the ladies! Myself, Bride Jen, my Aunt Jan (who made Caydin LAUGH like crazy the entire weekend - if Caydin could talk, he would say that Aunt Jan makes THE BEST noises!!!) Katie, Julie, and mom!

My brother and groom Jay, Caydin, myself, Rob, and bride Jen!

Caydin, the goofball who smiles big everytime he sees a camera.

My parents and all of my siblings!
We haven't had a photo of the 6 of us taken in YEARS!

It was so hot! But you can see the BIG PINK Don Cesar Resort in the background.

Day 4 and 5 at the beach

We have been spending a lot of time in the pool and at the beach =)

We have been spending a lot of time chasing after Caydin who is ALWAYS on the go =)

We have been spending a lot of time taking pictures which, many times, come out like this =)

Day 4 was pretty relaxed, a nothing day... we just sat around the poo for awhile.
We went out to dinner with all of the family and then took a walk on the beach.
Day 5 was the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner. We spent the morning at the Don Cesar pool (with Uncle Jay) and then spent the afternoon at the Tradewinds pool. Everyone is a bit, I mean A LOT, red, especially Daddy who doesn't want to every go to the pool or beach again.
More pictures to come, I need to eat breakfast and pull the computer cords out of Caydin's hands =)

Day 3 at the beach

Yesterday was another busy day!

Caydin and I started the morning at 7 with some playing and then a short walk on the beach. Caydin doesn't enjoy walking in the sand too much (but then again, who would... especially when you are just starting to walk).

After a nap, we went to the pool with Uncle Jay and Daddy. Caydin loves the pool and everyone at the pool loves to comment on how cute he is! So Caydin lays on the charm some more when people are looking and talking to him!

After the pool, we went to lunch. Caydin ate a few french fries but he's into throwing everything on the floor now... I should really take a picture of the floor after we have finished eating.... You would be surprised!

Then, us girls left to go to Jen's bridal shower and Caydin stayed with the boys and hung out by the pool.

We all met up at the Tropicana Stadium in Tampa for the Tampa Bay Rays baseball game. They played the Phillies. The first few innings were exciting because there were lots of runs and even a few homeruns! Then after about 3 innings of nothingness, it started to pick up again. Sadly, we were sitting in the foul ball section and a little boy about 3 rows in front of us was hit right under the eye by a ball. It was really hard to see and watch and I still have knots in my stomach about it.. He was carried off on a stretcher. We left shortly after that because it was way past Caydin's bedtime. Tampa won! Go Tampa Bay Rays!

Day 2 at the beach

We are at the beach!

We arrived Tuesday afternoon and checked into our resort. The resort is great, its got 5 (I think) pools, tons of activities, and the beach just steps away. Caydin loved the water and the waves on the first afternoon we were here but now realizes that there are pools (including a great baby pool) that he likes much much better! We are in a suite room that has a bedroom, kitchen, and living room so Caydin is sleeping in his pack-and-play in the living room. We were worried because the first night we were here, Caydin woke up at 1 am and stayed up until 3:30 am crying and whining. We were worried that he was going to have a "North Carolina" repeat (i.e. no sleeping, no napping, lots of crying, fever, stuffy nose). But last night, he went to bed at 9 and slept all the way through 7 this morning. YAY! He is taking great naps and we are trying hard to keep him on his normal schedule.

Yesterday, we walked around on the beach in the morning. Caydin ate breakfast then took a 3 hour nap. (He was tired!!!) While napping, we ate lunch and Rob and I went for a swim in the Gulf while Grandma watched Caydin. After napping, Katie arrived and we played some mini-Golf. Aunt Katie is a stinky golfer!!! Grandpa did the best, followed by Grandma and I and Aunt Katie came in last. HAHA!
After another nap, we ate dinner at Beef O Brady's and took Caydin for a swim in the baby pool. Grandpa took some pictures of the sunset.
It is amazing how fast the day goes by here!

We are looking forward to spending the rest of the week here at the beach. Uncle Josh and Aunt Julie (YAY, Caydin gets to meet Aunt Julie for the first time!) get here this afternoon. We are also looking forward to Uncle Jay's wedding on Sunday!
P.S. I love that Caydin is still taking his extra long morning naps - gives me time to eat Doritos and blog!

11 months!

Caydin this month....

...is eating 3 meals a day, breakfast/lunch/dinner and usually drinks between 3 - 4 8 oz bottles a day.

...sucks the air out of his bottles to get the milk instead of tilting the bottle up!

...started walking! (almost running!)

...walks with his hands up in an "under arrest" position for balance but doesn't really need them up because he walks just fine when he has something in his hands!

...started climbing (on the big drum at Kindermusik)

...started going to Kindermusik and playgroups!

...got his first haircut {which he didn't really care for!}

...picks up everything and walks away with it, he favorite pick-up toys are the remote controls, his loveys, and balls! While packing to come to the beach, he was busy unpacking what I already packed, he picked up baby food jars, his formula container, hangers, nipples (which he uses as a pacifer - pictures coming next week).

...is a true blanket boy. He will drag his blanket all over the house!

...loves KoBe & loves Meow Meow but she doesn't love him so much =)

...loves music and LOVES LOVES LOVES to hear mommy sing "You are my sunshine" or "The wheels on the Bus"

...Has a Elmo toy dressed in chicken clothes that makes him laugh everytime it starts singing.

...arrived at the beach (on his 11 month b-day) for the start of his first real vacation.

...LOVES the waves and has no fear, he walks right to the water!

...is starting to demand things and will not stop whining until he gets what he wants. {scary thought}

I can not believe that my little baby is 11 months old and that he will be 1 in just a few weeks. He is a happy, healthy, smart little guy who will forever keep us on our toes!!

Caydin, we love you!

Wordless Wednesday

YAY!

Look, my plants are growing!!!

I am quite proud of myself. No dead plants yet!!!

Fathers Day

Everyone came over to our house to cook out on the grill!

Katie came over too with a ColdStone cake that said "Happy Father's Day"

Happy 1st Father's Day!!!

I TOTALLY stole this idea from Catherine!

{Catherine: You know I love you and I'm sorry for stealing your brillant ideas!!! hehe}
They came out sooo cute! It was only a million degrees outside so I had to be quick but was happy that I got a few good shots.

We sit Caydin in the grass because that is the only place where he will not move - he is still afraid of the grass but is getting braver and will now touch it!

Read the shirt people, read the shirt!!

From sitting to standing...

What inspired all this???
Look for the plastic lid from a McDonald's cup!

Ready for the Beach

Caydin packed his ball and his bib and is now ready for our beach vacation!!!
If only life was that simple!

Today...

Caydin learned to stand up from sitting today. He no longer needs someone/something to help pull himself up (so hopefully, butt grabbing will be kept to just a few a day - hahah, actually i think butt-grabbing is quite funny!) He is growing up and becoming such a big boy now. Life is good.

I dropped my car off at the shop today to get a new bumper. I totally forgot to mention that Caydin was involved in his FIRST (and hopefully LAST) car accident last Sunday. There isn't much to mention though.... Rob backed my car into a parked car while pulling out of the driveway. Luckily, he hit the neighbors sorta-old and beat up car and he didn't care at all! When I was about 6 months pregnant with Caydin, another car and myself backed into eachother while attempting to get out of the Target parking lot. I had just alittle bit of paint missing on the center of my bumper... so don't tell anyone, but I've been waiting for something to happen so that I could fix that accident spot too!!!!! Life is good.

Caydin and I went to Music class today. He is soooooo focused on walking and exploring that he could care less about the music and movement, but oh well... He came home, played for awhile and then took a 3 hour nap. Life is good.

Went to Target tonight... AHHH, I spend soooo much money at Target. I found a ride-on toy for Caydin's birthday *that my mother insisted on buying* AND it was on sale so that made me happy. I also found some clearance baskets for school. More happiness. Life is good.

Mom made me a grilled cheese sandwich for dinner. Life is super good.

Ok, bye!
