Choo Choo!

Caydin LOVED playing in this train at the science center. LOVED IT. ALOT. So much so that my usually quiet, patient kid... pushed older, bigger kids out of the way so that he could play! GO CAYDIN!

Park

Kids are funny! Yesterday at the park, Caydin ONLY wanted to swing! He would throw tantrums if we even suggested he get off the swing and do something else at the park! When it was time to leave, we had to pull him out of the swing and walk toward home with a crying baby! He REALLY loved those swings!

**Pictures all from Friday**

Today at the park, we didn't put Caydin in the swings right away and he was totally ok with that! He climbed up the stairs and went down the slide like a big boy! When he didn't want to climb anymore, I'd put him at the top of the slide and he'd slide down on his own! He didn't care at all that he wasn't on the swings!

OHHH, I love how a 20 month old's "favorite things" change from day to day!!!

It's spring break here! So I'm apologizing in advance for the overwhelming amount of pictures that I am sure to post this week!

Rob celebrated the start of spring break (not that he gets one in the retail world) by purchasing a grapefruit tree today. So happy birthday grapefruit tree!!!

20 months!

Caydin is out of the "teen" months!! Where did our baby go?? Just 4 more months and Caydin will be 2! Ahhh, scary thought! Happy 20 months little guy! We celebrated with a trip to the orthopedic pediatric doctor who said his collarbone is in the stage of "healing" but will need a couple more weeks before we consider him "good to go!" Hehe!!

New stuff this month:

New words: All done/All gone, bubbles, woof (I'm sure there is more... but I can't think of them)

New sound: aaaaaa when looking at the letter A (thanks Starfall - great website!)

Interest in spoons and feeding himself.

Losing interest in taking 2nd naps... which results in lots of tantrums toward the end of the evening!

Fractured collarbone (thanks Grammy!)

A serious fear of doctors and anyone else wearing "doctor" clothes!

An extreme love of books (not sad about this one!)

A dancer especially if his Leapfrog frig magnets are singing!

A stacker

A talker

Mastering the art of walking up stairs

MASTERED the art of being cute!

(as always, I'll add to the list as I think of things!)

Collarbone Update

Caydin is doing much better! He has quite a bit of swelling and bruising on his left collarbone (see pictures!) but it isn't slowing him down! He had been wearing his sling and didn't mess with his arm up until today!
Today, he started lifting his arm and passing toys from his right hand to his left hand to hold. He has also figured out how to get out of his sling and can loosen the strap on it.
It will be intersting to see if Caydin continues to use his right hand more or will he switch back to his left when he feels comfortable?!?! We previously thought he was for sure a leftie but now know that he is just as good with his right!!!!
We have an appointment scheduled with an orthopedic pediatric surgeon on Tuesday so hopefully we will get some new xrays (have I mentioned that Caydin HATED getting xrays last time - it took 3 of us to hold him down!) and see some improvement!

Mickey LIVE!

Caydin did EXCELLENT at his first big "show"! He was so amazed by the characters and dancing that he literally did NOT move for 45 minutes! He still has no clue who the characters are but definitely loved all the lights, singing, and movement. If I had a pick his favorite part, I'd say it was TIGGER bouncing around the stage and singing. Caydin bounced right along with him. Thanks to Grandma for coming along with us and sharing in on all the fun! And all you folks who didn't think the little guy could happen it - poop on you! Hehe!

More cars!

Pictures taken pre-fractured collarbone!
Grandma bought over this super cool Little Tykes car track on Sunday and Caydin LOVES it. He is working hard on keeping the cars on the track and rolling them around, he especially likes to push the cars under the tunnel.
So whats so super cool about this track?? It was my brother Josh's toy ohhhh from some 25 years ago!!!!
How cool is that?!?!?! It's still in perfect condition and works great! It also works great for Caydin's Tonka Cars (which he has a LOT of!!!) Caydin loves it so much that he HAD to take the cars into the tub with him! I pick my battles... and Caydin won this time! (besides, the cars needed a good cleaning - what better place to clean them than in the bath!?!?!)

Caydin's Couch Dive! (not recommended for those under the age of ohhhh 10)

Oh no!
Poor Caydin took a dive off the couch yesterday evening! Rob and I were at the movies and Grandma was here watching Caydin. I think his fall freaked her out more than it did Caydin! Luckily, Rob and I were on the way to the grocery store after the movies when she called so we went right home, loaded him up, and headed to the emergency room. The place was PACKED (apparently EVERYONE goes to the ER on a Monday night!) and they estimated the wait for 2-3 hours - scary! So we called around and eventually left to go to an urgent care clinic. We still had to wait a LONG time but the place was designed for kids so Caydin got to watch a kiddie movie on TV -- over and over again...
Caydin didn't want to move his left arm so we knew something was going on with his shoulder/collarbone area. We got xrays done and sure enough, he has a fracture on his collarbone. He gets to wear this super cute blue sling. Caydin slept great and doesn't play with the sling at all. I think it is his "security blanket" as it reminds him not to move his arm too much! He does move it every once in a while but usually this happens: {thats a crying face if you can't tell}
But most of the time, he is still smiling and laughing! He even got to take a good ol' trip to Target tonight (in his 2 day old tee-shirt - who does that?!?!)
We were pretty sure before his fall that he is going to be left handed - but boy oh boy, he sure does know how to use that right hand to point out what he wants!Although spending 4 hours at the hospital/urgent care was no fun and the fractured collarbone makes doing things alittle bit more difficult, Caydin is enjoying getting to hang out in his PJ bottoms all day and loves that everyone is cuddling and reading to him LOTS and LOTS and LOTS (not that we don't do that anyways!)
....Just for picture proof... The mean ol' couch that Caydin fell off of and his oh-so-nice looking Grammy who was home when he fell! He still loves his Grammy (and the couch, I suppose)!

Kids, kids, kids...

My class recently took a field trip to a local park! Everyone had a GREAT time, despite the almost all day rain! I didn't have high hopes for the trip (mainly because of the weather) but totally enjoyed it once I pulled my camera out! The kids LOVE getting their pictures taken and would request a picture (especially when they were hanging upside down on the monkey bars). I happily snapped away and giggled at the huge difference between taking pictures of a (soon-to-be) 2 year old and 6/7 year olds!
It rained a lot, and we hid under a pavillon so the kids wouldn't get all wet, not that they cared, we had a tell a bunch of kids to get OUT of the rain.

Love the hand-holding.

The best group shot... my class is ahhh active this year so it is nearly impossible to get them all looking at the camera at the same time!

Leaf collecting

Don't you just love seeing kids help eachother out!

Bird Watching! The teacher told the kids that real bird watchers will see a bird then look it up in the bird book. We probably would of looked the birds up too... if we saw ANY birds!!!!

Bird Games... you know, since there weren't any birds!
