Friends, friends, friends...

This summer, we have spent most of our days playing with friends.  It's funny how the activities you do each summer change.  Last summer, I remember spending the mornings on the backporch while Caydin played in his plastic kiddie pool.  This summer, we've been busy with seeing friends, going to gymboree, and spending time with our favorite playgroup families in the evening.  We joke that Caydin's social life is MUCH more active than ours!
Last week we had a busy (but great!) week with friends.  Our bestests came over for a visit. The boys really have a good time together.  Gavin is just so cute, its hard to remember those early months of walking with Caydin so its fun to see Gavin. :)  All the boys headed to the window to see the garbage truck.  What is it with little boys and their LOVE for garbage trucks?!?!
Both Caydin and Landen love trains, cars, and books.  Landen was so cute with his storytelling and Caydin has since copied him and tells us stories as well!
Then a few days later, Ava came over for a playdate!  Ava loves the kitchen set and wanted to pretend eat with Caydin so bad! Caydin of course would rather be playing with cars but he did a good job of playing with the kitchen for a few minutes.
After playtime in the "toy room" (as Caydin calls it) these 2 buddies headed to Caydin's room to make a tower with the legos.  Ava showed Caydin how to clean up before getting the next thing out then they did puzzles together.  I love how I can tell/help Caydin clean up 1,000 times but it only takes once for a friend to show him how to do something and now he helps all the time!
These 2 watched the space shuttle on TV and then read a lot of Caydin's favorite books.
Caydin really enjoys having friends over to spend time with him.  (I'm sure mommy can be pretty boring at times!)  I enjoy it too.  While they were playing, I got to SIT and look through a baby name book! Score!

Caydin and I had an ice cream date....

Yeah..... I was supposed to sit in the other blue chair.  Apparently Caydin forgot about his baby brother in my belly.... which now sticks out and makes it IMPOSSIBLE to sit in that chair! LOL!

Cars 2

July 5, 2011
Caydin was very excited to go to the movies for the first time!  I took him to see Cars2 with some of his friends!  I was alittle worried that he wouldn't be able to sit through the movie since he NEVER sits through a movie at home! We talked about Lightning McQueen and got him a little car to play with a few days before the movie.  We even had a few books that we read over and over again. Before the movie, we ate soup and sandwiches at Panera Bread then headed over to get our tickets.  I was excited that Caydin was free!!!! Caydin sat in his own chair for all of the previews (man - there was a lot! He kept asking me where the cars were!)
He then sat for awhile longer while the movie started.  After awhile, he climbed into my chair with me but still did great watching the movie.  He asked a few questions and talked alittle loudly a some parts but overall did wonderfully!
I definitely see movies as a fun treat/date night for Caydin in the months to come!

The Big Day!

July 4th, 2011

We kept baby boy's gender a secret for a few days and invited a few close friends and some family over to reveal it!  I was so excited about our 4th of July baby cake!
And here is baby boy at 19 weeks!

July 1st, 2011

Today, after nap, Caydin was making thunder sounds and jumping on my lap to "hide". I had to remind him to be careful because he always wants to lift up by pushing on my belly. I asked him if he remembered what is in my belly and he very quickly said "a baby!" and pulled up my shirt. I asked him what he thought baby was doing in mommy's belly and he responded that baby was "playing with baby toys." Then he did something that surprised me! He took the USB cord for my camera (that was sitting on the couch next to us) and tried to stick it in my belly button. LOL! I asked him what he was doing. He told me he wanted to "see baby". So cute!

June 28th, 2011

Today was a big day! We had our first ultrasound to see baby #2. We've already been able to hear the baby's heartbeat at the doctor's office twice but were excited to actually get to see him! We measured in at 18 weeks and 2 days on the day of the ultrasound. With Caydin, we got to see him for the first time at 14 weeks so it was a longer wait with baby #2.... not that we noticed - Caydin keeps us busy everyday!

Baby measured great and the tech was able to get good pictures at the beginning. Baby must of gotten bored because he started to hide about half way through. Not cool, kid, not cool. The tech really wanted her pictures so she used the ultrasound wand to wiggle my belly all over the place, which was fine the first 3 times she did it..... Not so fine the last 20 times she did it.

Did I mention that baby is a BOY???

Definitely a boy! Of course, we were hoping for a girl in the family but we are so so excited about another boy. Another mama's boy, I hope!!!! I can just imagine all the matching outfits! HA! Christmas is going to be fun this year! :)

Baby boy weighed 9 oz and is roughly the size of a mango.

Our Baby/Independence Day

We had a great 4th of July weekend (despite Caydin HATING fireworks!) Sunday Monday was spent helping my brother and SIL move into their house.  I didn't do much helping though! :)
Sunday afternoon, we headed to the grocery store, then Rob, Caydin and I worked on weeds in the backyard.  Everyone came over for dinner and Caydin had a really fun time since he had everyone's attention!  He was such a little show-off! Especially on his Spiderman bike - he rode that thing with his feet up on the seat and an "Uncle Josh" grin on his face around in circles while we were eating!
We got some simple sparklers, smoke ball things, and the little poppers that you throw on the ground thinking that if we kept the fireworks simple, Caydin might enjoy them.  YEAH, NOT SO MUCH!  He likes looking at them but hates, hates, hates the banging and booming.  He hid on my mom's lap or inside the house the enough time that the guys played with them!
On Monday, we planned on some having some of our favorite people over for lunch.  We found out what gender our 2nd baby is about a week before and were excited to share it with everyone.  Mom and I worked on a 4th of July cake.  My mom was able to get the color representing baby in the center and I added the strawberries/blueberries on top to go with our 4th of July theme!  All of our little ones were dressed so cute in their 4th of July outfits that we had to get a picture!  We left the porch door open and a really pretty butterfly flew in.  Sadly, we couldn't get the little guy to fly out!  (I should probably go check to see if he is still out there!)  After a long nap, we headed to Grandma/Grandpa's for a swim.   We grilled chicken for dinner and ate the leftovers from lunch!  We were able to get a bunch of great pictures of the family (but I'll post those in another post!)

Moving trucks and little truck helpers.

We had a busy weekend of moving! (Not us - but family members!) My brother and SIL were moving down here from Colorado.  They were moving into my parents old house.  My parents bought a new house back in February/March but were sloooooowly moving into the new house.  So with Josh and Julie coming in a few days, my dad rented a moving truck to get some of stuff moved over.  Caydin thought the moving truck was great!  He refused to get into the drivers seat though!
The truck my brother had was much bigger! They arrived Saturday night.  We got to the old house just in time to see the last couple of boxes coming off the truck.  Caydin loved running up the ramp and through the empty truck.  He was so worried that the truck would leave when he was inside.  Again, he refused to get in the driver's seat!
Caydin had a lot of fun riding around on this!
Delivery!!!! (No one was willing to "sign" for the package so he was returned to his original owners! HA!)

Sometimes you crash...

Caydin is a runner.  I think he only walked for a few days before he figured out how to run and hasn't stopped since.  Seriously, he would run ALL day if we let him.  Of course, we have tried to show him that there are places where you can run and places where you should probably walk.  With all this running comes more bumps and bruises!  :)

The other day, Caydin crashed on the driveway.  Rob says he caught air as he was going down, not your simple fall and cut a knee...  He landed on his left side and cut up his face, hand, and knee.  Poor guy.  He cried.  We got out some frozen peas to put on the bump near his eye and were very surprised to see him keep it on there.

He was holding his brand new Lightening McQueen car when he fell and the car got a scratch too.  So everytime he plays with that car, I think he remembers falling and tells the story over again.

After only a few days, his face looks much much better!  He was banged up just long enough for us to delay our 3 year pictures! I know Rob was truly disappointed about that one! :)
